Case Study
Office Kitchen Refurbishment, Marylebone, London
Client: GIC
Location: London
Project Duration: 1 Week
Project Scope: Kitchen space improvement and office refurbishments
GIC, a long-standing client, approached us with a request to enhance the kitchen space in their London office.
The relocation of staff from the 1st and 2nd floors to the ground floor brought about concerns, primarily due to noise from the existing kitchen and breakout space, as well as layout issues caused by the increase in staff. Our goal was to redesign the space, making it more functional and aesthetically pleasing, to create an inviting environment that would improve the overall experience for the team.

Our approach to the office refurbishment:
Challenges and Solutions
-
Space Layout and Glass Partitioning:
- We worked closely with GIC to refine the designs for a glass partition that would separate the kitchen area from the rest of the office while maintaining a modern and open feel.
- A bespoke sliding glass door was installed, provided by JEB Group. Despite the bespoke nature of the door, we achieved a fast turnaround time of 3-4 weeks, ensuring the project stayed on track.
-
Flooring:
- The client chose Karndean’s ‘Van Gogh’ range, a wood-effect LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) product that offered durability and visual appeal. We presented several options before landing on this selection, which provided the warm, homely feel the client was aiming for.
-
Lighting System:
- One of the major challenges we faced was the mismatch between the client’s desired mains lighting and the low-voltage DALI-controlled system already in place. We coordinated with the incumbent controls engineer to install a mains controller port on the existing Lighting Control Module (LCM), allowing the seamless integration of the new lighting system.
-
Timeline and Execution:
- The client arranged for the office to be cleared for one week, providing a narrow window to complete the project. Our team worked efficiently, ensuring that the refurbishment was completed by the end of the week, as planned.
